Lynden Pindling International Airport, located in Nassau, is the biggest of all the airports in the Bahamas. Previously it was called the Nassau International Airport, which was changed to its present name to honor the commonwealth of the Bahamas’ first Prime Minister, Sir Lynden Oscar Pindling.
In order to improve its facilities and accommodate more guests, redevelopment program has been devised which started working in phases. With the completion of the first phase a lot of new things were implemented. With the final phase on its way new terminals, baggage claiming systems and many other features will be upgraded.
Where is Lynden Pindling International Airport?
It lies approximately 16 km westward from the downtown Nassau in the commonwealth of the Bahamas. From here you can travel in short time to Paradise Island, explore places in Nassau along with many other attractions of the Bahamas.

From Nassau it is only 16 km and from the Andros Town, it is 62 km away. It can be reached via hired cabs by availing the easy roadways. In order to access the terminals, take the West Bay Street and move towards the west till it connects you with Blake Road. From Blake Road, reach JFK Drive, which is around 3 km away from the airport.
Lynden Pindling International Airport Expansion Project
A redevelopment project to expand the existing airport to serve the guests better with posh terminals was planned. A $409.5 million project has been laid in stages, which strives to achieve its goal by 2013.
In 2011, on 16th March, the Nassau Airport Development Company inaugurated the newly constructed U.S. Departures terminal of 247,000 sq. ft. as a part of the reconstruction project undertaken to improve the airport.
Restaurants, baggage system, eco-friendly building designs and business avenues are a part of this plan. It will be expanded to a 571,000 sq. ft. area, which can easily benefit more than 4 million passengers.

The concourses at the Pindling International Airport can be classified into 3 sections. Departure terminal completed in 2011 is stationed at the left, having domestic arrivals and departures. International arrival section is a separate segment and on completion of new International arrival section a whole terminal will be formed at one place.
