                        "nude beaches for every body"

February 2006              Official Newsletter of Free Beaches Australia Inc              No 59 - circulation 650
Inc No IA 29529

Welcome From The New President…

Thank you all for your confidence and support from all of the committee in the election of 2006 office bearers for Free Beaches Australia (FBA).

As a committee we see our role for 2006 as one of developing and strengthening the National FBA in the areas of goals, mission, aims, and most importantly membership. The new National FBA was born 12 months ago from the amalgamation of the FBA of NSW and FBAQ after the voluntary closure of the NSW organization. The main function of the FBA is that of National Nudist Lobby Group to all levels of Government and the community at large, including the nudist community. The core assets for any non-profit group are the volunteers, urgently needed in every part of Australia.

This has given rise to the volunteer Regional Director and Social Director Scheme via the National Liaison Officer in every region to grow and develop membership, lobby authorities, establish new beaches and maintain existing facilities – illustrated below. The FBA’s role as a nudist lobby organisation can only function with active member support.

Due to ill health Melton Greevey has been forced to resign his position, we wish Mel a speedy recovery to good health.

So how will this work? Let’s have a look…

Times have changed, the 21st Century is about the community as a whole, we need to be considerate and responsible for our actions. Our ‘Code of Conduct’ rather than exclusions need to be adhered to and actively supported by all members. Our lifestyle is about freedom and being at one with nature, nude not lewd.

The importance of strong local & national membership hit home hard with the Bundaberg decision as the opposition to the beach far out weighed the nudist submissions. We as nudists must not be complacent in our attitudes to lending our support to attain free beaches; it is our individual responsibility to be involved. The days of petitions are over; it is the time of accountability, calculating interstate and overseas tourist dollars, night bed stays and community safety.

We must grow to meet the challenge. Each area is responsible for their own area socials & members. Ask how you can help in your area to foster relationships between nudist factions.

‘United we stand – divided we miss the boat’

The Regional and Social Directors would work with the National Liaison Officer, one of the new positions on the National Executive, thus giving direct representation.

It all starts with the most important – MEMBERS. The diagram below shows the information flow required to manage the volunteer FBA organisation.

Example… If there are 10 areas in NSW with 200 members in each that’s 2,000 members in NSW plus the rest of Australia. GOAL 10,000 members by 2010 nationally.

Strength in numbers – Politicians see votes, public safety, and economic benefits, 20 unorganised locals can be side stepped, however 10,000 is another matter altogether. Locals still get the pats on the back. At the AGM any member anywhere can stand for committee as a computer and phone will keep you in the decision making loop allowing you to fulfill your role.

Go to the beach – then help attain and maintain those freedoms, in our historical Anglo-Saxon Australian community nudist beaches are a privilege not a right.

The more families & genuine nudists on a beach the safer and more rewarding your lifestyle will be. Be Proud of your nudist lifestyle, learn from the past, live in the Present and plan for the Future.

Philip Millroy (2006 FBA President)

Q & A

Q. Why does FBA allow singles to join?
A. We recognize society has changed – in excess of 25% of the adults live in single person accommodation. We rely on the ‘Code of Conduct’ to be our guide. Same for everyone.
Q. Why can’t the Exec still organize all the functions?
A. Remember we are now National not just Qld anymore, how could someone in Sydney know what members in Perth want. Thus the need for wider involvement.
Q. What can I do, I don’t want to be in the paper?
A. Easy, support those who are happy too, attend functions, introduce new members etc
Q. Where does the money go, the whole $15 (rest is ANF)?
A. Not far I can tell you – newsletters, postage, advertising, printing, insurance, phone, web site.
Q. Can I be a member of FBA and another club?
A. Yes, Yes  please help unite the nudist world all are equal & our destiny is interwoven.

SPECIAL FEATURE

‘Nudist a Nudist’

The Doctrine of exposure of the body to sunlight and fresh air for health and hygiene is a tonic for both body and mind.

It’s a philosophy.

An attitude of mind and way of life.

Without the rigors of weather there is no need for clothing as clothing serves to focus on erotic attention.

We are all equal nude and stand with self-assurance, with truth, no shame.

Rich or poor with no class, no status, no race as we were born.

Respect for other in honesty and friendship.

The privacy and dignity of the human body.

To be nude and not believe this, will not make you a nudist.
