It’s been quiet on the news front over the last couple of months, just the usual rumblings about many of the beaches around the world – although many of them are in much warmer conditions than us so at least they are able to get outside!! We hope the organisers of the nude camping this weekend in Nathalia (Victoria) got a few brave people to go along and join them, even with an unsupportive weather forecast!

But we digress – not really beach related news but interesting all the same, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney manged to get themselves into the New York Times this week with the opening of an art exhibition that was an art exhibition all of its own!! According to the article, “There’s this process of reduction going on,” he [Stuart Ringholt] said. “I asked the question of why the contemporary art community stopped at wearing black. Why didn’t they reduce further and strip back the clothing from the visitor?”

You can read more about the event here. If any readers here were in attendance, we’d like to hear your perspective so drop us a line!

“We’ll be cleaning a one-kilometre stretch of (Point Impossible) beach in the nude, but we’ll be sure to put some clothes on when we clean the dunes and car park area” – JenniGreat to see the community stepping up and representing us in the media – article in the Surf Coast Times in Victoria, titled “Clean Up, Nude or Not” (click on the link to read the article). It’s great to see nudists mentioned in articles like these – our interests cross over with the textile world at major events during the year so a positive article like this one goes a long way to showing we’re keen supporters of the wider community. And it was a top photo in the article as well, we all know it can be tough to get in front of the camera to represent the community to the wider public, so kudos to both Daryl and Jenni for their efforts.

We recommend you get involved, it would be great to get many more people along and grow our numbers from prior years – there are already two beaches registered for CUA (Pt Impossible in Victoria and Birdie Beach in NSW) and it would be fantastic to get lots of people along to show their support for the beaches we all enjoy (and also do some cleaning up as well!!). If you do get involved, remember to stick to the rules outlined by your site supervisor for your safety, and only be nude in areas where it is permitted.

Don’t forget to check out the upcoming events at the bottom of the page, and if you have news or events you’d like included on the site, just drop us a note via the contact page!
